Did you know that animal shelters in Aspen offer volunteering opportunities? If you have time to spare this spring, drop by the Aspen Animal Shelter to brush the cats, walk the dogs, and wash used feeding bowls. The staff — and the animals — would welcome your services with open arms.
Why support Aspen Animal Shelter? Aside from being a self-sustaining shelter that gets most of its income from The Aspen Boarding Kennel, it’s also a strong supporter of the no-kill advocacy. Instead of euthanizing homeless animals, it provides a sanctuary for abandoned cats and dogs — and the occasional rabbits and birds — in and around Aspen, and prepares them for adoption.
Prior to release to their new owners, all animals are neutered and vaccinated. They are also implanted with a microchip for identification.
If you wish to volunteer or maybe even adopt a pet, take note that the shelter is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For inquiries, call (970)5440206.
But before you adopt a pet, make sure your home is pet-friendly! We at Charles Cunniffe Architects can redesign your home to make it an ideal place to live in for domesticated animals. Contact us to learn about our services.
