CCA was engaged to design a comfortable and inviting space—a place where friends could meet and share tales of the day’s events that had historically been missing at this municipal course.
The program included providing a pro shop, locker rooms and public spaces that are shared by the golf and tennis club players from the late spring through early fall and by the Nordic skiing club in the winter. There is also a four-seasons bar and restaurant with covered verandas for outdoor dining, which offers marvelous views of the 18th green and fairway as well as the distant Pyramid Peak and the famous ski areas of Aspen. This flexible facility is also very popular for special events, such as golf, tennis and ski club parties as well as weddings.
By using rustic materials such as rusted metal roofs, rough sawn cedar siding, heavy timber beams and broken faced fluted cement block incorporating traditional barn shapes and detailing in a more sophisticated manner, the building is at home in its urban/rural setting.
