GIBSON RESIDENCE
Aspen, CO Designed from the inside out, this residence was developed around a series of spectacularly unfolding views on a triangular shaped lot with existing mature spruce trees and considerable City easements and setbacks. The design constraints were the inspiration for the development of two articulated building axis. To take maximum advantage of the extraordinary view potential, the primary living spaces were elevated on the upper level. Each of these primary spaces, in addition to the garage and the two-story entry foyer, were individually expressed by intersecting curved roof forms. The resulting contemporary sculpture nicely articulates each living component while softens the overall architecture to fit within the more traditional neighborhood.
