In 8 days all eyes will be on London as it takes center stage for the Games of the XXX Olympiad. One of the five permanent venues on Olympic Park for the London 2012 Olympic Games is the Velodrome, designed London firm Hopkins Architects.
According to Dezeen, “The Velodrome has been designed with the aim of creating the world’s fastest cycling track by tailoring the track geometry and setting the temperature and environmental conditions within the venue to create record-breaking conditions.” Sounds pretty high-tech.
The Velodrome met and in some instances exceeded the “number of sustainability and material targets” put forth by the Olympic Delivery Authority.
