Melding simplistic form & function was a key objective for this family retreat in Snowmass, Colorado. The program included a home to accommodate 12, low-zero maintenance, minimalistic feel, natural light, storage and design details for renting. The design encompasses an open living space with a spacious outdoor deck providing an abundance of light and additional lounge area. Bamboo & stainless steel form the kitchen with lock-off storage and a large dining area with adjacent deck. A bridge connects the main level to the master suite. Four additional bedrooms include a colorful bunk-room with a “bunk bathroom” with 4 sinks, an oversized shower, w/c and storage. Hydronic radiant systems warm the flooring. To break up the exterior massing, 3 sustainable, low maintenance materials were utilized including Trespa rain screen, Rusty metal corrugated siding to recall the historic mining vernacular, and E.I.F.S. Merging minimalistic styling with ingenious architecture, our team achieved the Owner’s program.
